How long have you been in recruitment for?
"I wanted the freedom to make my own decisions and hopefully reap the long term rewards rather than a salary and bonus."
What made you decide to start your own recruitment business?
"Winning a regional business award was rewarding and brought immense satisfaction. Being acknowledged by others for our achievements is crucial. Additionally, establishing a new business from scratch is challenging, requiring self-confidence for success. Achieving a £1m turnover and healthy profit in our second year validated our efforts and felt like the risk had paid off."
What has been your biggest highlight so far?
"Be sure that you want to do it as it should be for the long term. I gave up a good income , pension , healthcare and flash car so I had to commit to it and look at the long term. Make sure there is support behind you in terms of back office support. Running a business is hard and your time is at a premium so having that professional back up is crucial."
What advice would you give to others who are thinking about starting up their own business?
"Setting up any business from scratch is hard , but Recruitment is even harder than most due to compliance rules and financial demands so having fellow experts there to back you up is essential and allows you to concentrate on running your business and making it successful."
