How long have you been in recruitment for?
"It’s always been in the back of mind as something that I wanted to do. Growing up with both parents who were self-employed, I always had an admiration for what they built themselves and wanted to do a similar thing myself. "
What made you decide to start your own recruitment business?
Building a great team of talented recruiters who do things the right way.
What has been your biggest highlight so far?
"My best advice is “you do you”. It’s far too easy to measure yourself against others and more often than not, your perception and the reality of how others are doing are usually quite different. Keep doing what is right for you and your business, work hard and the results will follow."
What advice would you give to others who are thinking about starting up their own business?
"We made a few mistakes at the outset and had a few legal issues to resolve, that delayed the successful take off the business. We were lucky to have the backing of Key Selection as they supported us through the troubled times and assisting to getting the business into shape and ultimately developing into a business capable of delivering significant returns.
Additionally, being part of a group of like-minded individuals always helps. Being able to pick up the phone to another Equity Partner Director when you have had a bad day or experience and discuss in confidence is worth its weight in gold."
