How long have you been in recruitment for?
"I didn’t, I started at Hamilton Woods as an employee, however I treated it like it was my own, for the first 3 years, I put everything I had into the company and from this I was offered partnership within Hamilton Woods."
What made you decide to start your own recruitment business?
"The best day of my career was the day I was offered a share-holding in the business. I felt I had put my heart and soul into the business for what felt like such a long time, and I never asked or expected that this could or would ever happen."
What has been your biggest highlight so far?
"Be patient. It won’t build overnight.
You will need to be the reason for everything that ever happens for the first few years, so be prepared to just do.
Be honest; with your staff, your business partners but most importantly, be honest with yourself."
What advice would you give to others who are thinking about starting up their own business?
"It will allow you to build a fully fledged business without the distraction from operations/ finance/payroll/legal. It can only take one of these heads to turn in the wrong way to grind a growing business to a halt. It also gives you access to an abundance of support, there is no question that cannot be answered which empowers you and your staff. And lastly, the best consultants want to join a business that is safe and secure, we have only been able to find such a winning team full of A players, due to backing of the Key Selection Group."
