How long have you been in recruitment for?
"I had previously owned a recruitment business but sold it on. However, I had already been considering returning to the Food & Drink Industry recruitment sector but dreaded the prospect of doing it alone."
What made you decide to start your own recruitment business?
"The biggest highlight has been seen the team flourish in the culture that we have established and getting the buy in of the other senior team members who want to be a part of our journey."
What has been your biggest highlight so far?
"Don’t be afraid. I have observed the successful business within Key Selection and those who have the confidence to back themselves, often making mistakes, but they are always the ones that succeed. It can be tough for the first few months, but this is just a point in time. Keep doing the right things and results will come."
What advice would you give to others who are thinking about starting up their own business?
"We made a few mistakes at the outset and had a few legal issues to resolve, that delayed the successful take off the business. We were lucky to have the backing of Key Selection as they supported us through the troubled times and assisting to getting the business into shape and ultimately developing into a business capable of delivering significant returns.
Additionally, being part of a group of like-minded individuals always helps. Being able to pick up the phone to another Equity Partner Director when you have had a bad day or experience and discuss in confidence is worth its weight in gold."
